How should we pray for our Eritrean brothers and sisters in Christ?
| Members of the global body of Christ are experiencing violence, imprisonment and even death because of their Christian witness. And you can make a powerful difference by committing to pray for these faithful believers! The need for prayer is especially urgent right now for Eritrean Christian prisoners and their families. Hundreds are imprisoned because of their Christian faith. As they follow Christ in some of the most difficult conditions in the world, let us remember them and their families in prayer. Eritrea, in East Africa, is governed by a totalitarian regime that seeks to control every aspect of life — including religion. The government maintains control of approved churches and has arrested Christians without warning, providing no opportunity for a trial. Conditions inside these prisons are some of the worst in the world. Christian prisoners are provided meager rations and are often held in shipping containers in extreme desert conditions, sometimes for years. Please pray for these prisoners and for their families, who are not allowed to visit their imprisoned loved one.
As you feel led, please prayerfully consider an online donation to help more than 250 Christian prisoners and their families with food, medicine, clothing and pastoral care. Thank you for your prayers and gifts.

The Voice of the Martyrs - Fierce opposition to the gospel in Eritrea
Provide help for imprisoned Christians and their families in Eritrea!
| Eritrea’s totalitarian regime specifically targets Christians and often imprisons them indefinitely. VOM contacts in Eritrea have reported police raids on church meetings. Christians who dare to ignore government warnings and gather with other believers are taken to prison. Not long ago, 17 Christians were arrested for gathering to pray. Then, a week later, 25 more believers were arrested. And this time the news was even more heart-rending: Eight of those arrested were children. Today, almost 400 Eritrean believers are being held without charge in prisons, underground cells or metal shipping containers. This is an urgent need. Please stand with our brothers and sisters in Christ now. VOM has pledged $280,000 to support Eritrea’s persecuted Christians, including Christians currently in prison. How can you help?
Your online gift will help these Christians with food, medicine, clothing and pastoral care. Your gift will also help
Please give as generously as you can. Your support is needed and valued, and it will make a difference for our brothers and sisters in Eritrea. Thank you.

The Voice of the Martyrs: Prison couldn't silence Helen's singing.
A Joyful Song in a Desert Prison
| Few things made Helen Berhane happier than singing for the Lord. But Helen lived in the East African nation of Eritrea, where Christian worship and practice are highly restricted. When Helen’s activities as a worship leader and youth worker were discovered, she was locked in a metal shipping container for many months. She was cold in the winter, swelteringly hot in the summer, and without plumbing all year long. But even in prison, Helen found a way to keep singing. It made the guards so angry that they beat and tortured her in an attempt to silence her voice of praise.
Helen is one of four women featured in VOM’s Hearts of Fire Virtual Event. Register now to watch this inspiring event on July 14 at 7 p.m. Hear Helen talk about her time in prison and how she sang praises to the Lord throughout her imprisonment. You will also hear the inspiring testimonies of
In addition, you will enjoy worship music by Michael W. Smith. Register for free to watch on July 14 or to host the event at your church.
