First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant opens animal shelter with help from neighboring incarcerated individuals

February 15, 2024

First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, saw a need in its community for an animal shelter and heeded God’s command to care for its neighbor, Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility.

It has resulted in a program that engages prisoners at the facility to help train animals cared for by the shelter, All God’s Creatures, and thus make them more adoptable.

Let us pray

God of grace, hear our prayers for those who do the work of the kingdom in difficult circumstances. Stand with them and inspire us by their example. May we find new ways to speak the words of faith to our neighbors as we share the gifts you have given us through Christ. Amen.
