Feeling the effects of burnout?

Discovering Renewal - April 2-5, 2024 at Montreat Conference Center
Experience renewal through everyday practices - So many people in today’s busy world are experiencing the effects of burnout. Our jobs, obligations, and even churches expect us to work relentlessly. And while hard work is important, we need to find a balance between work and Sabbath in order to truly thrive. Discovering Renewal is designed to help you encounter moments of rest through simple spiritual practices that you can continue to apply even when you return home. Keep reading to see how you can experience renewal for yourself!
New offerings for 2024 - Tabletop Games led by Rev. Thomas (T. Wes) Wesley Moore, IV, and Dora Rowe: Delve into the captivating realm of tabletop gaming! This new track will be filled with magic, camaraderie, and boundless creativity as we explore role-playing games, board games, and more. Specifically, participants will be introduced to Star Trek Adventures and Dungeons and Dragons (5e). Sabbath Track: Montreat offers a peaceful and beautiful setting for guests to spiritually recharge, and sometimes that is best done sans schedule! This new track option allows participants to attend morning devotions and evening events, but will not include any structured activities during the day. Instead, you’ll find time for prayer, study, and rest on your own.
Other track options - Art Track led by Sue Dolamore: Find renewal through the beauty of creation in this plein air drawing class. Fly Fishing Track led by Tanner Pickett: Approach fly fishing as a contemplative practice as we explore the rivers and streams of Western North Carolina. Intentional Hiking Track led by Aram Mitchell: Find a new appreciation for the journey that gets you to a destination as we hike the Montreat Wilderness. Yoga Track led by Mary Carroll Dodd: Renew your mind, body, and spirit through the practice of yoga.

Add an extra day - This year, we are offering participants the option to add an additional Sabbath day of rest on Monday, April 1st. This is your invitation to embrace Monday as a day for unstructured rest following the bustling Easter season. Activities presented for Monday are entirely optional, with the first structured conference activities beginning Tuesday evening.
