For decades, Black Mountain Presbyterian Church in the southern end of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains has been addressing need in its community. “It’s a place where you expect to be in service in some way or another,” says Margo Smith, a member of the church, which is one of the Presbyterian Hunger Program‘s Hunger Action Congregations.

We visited the community in late summer 2022 to meet some of the people and organizations doing this work.

DeEtte Decker conducted interviews for the video, which was recorded and edited by Rich Copley, produced by Melody Smith and includes music by Tre Houston Productions via Pond5.com.

Let us pray

Beloved God, we rejoice and pause as we realize the awesome responsibility of living as Christ’s disciples. We pray for the ability to listen well to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our sisters and brothers around the world and to respond in love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
