Medical Missions Live | MBF

Transforming Mission in the
21st Century
7:00 PM Central  |  Tuesday, January 19
Rev. Dr. B. Hunter Farrell
Director of the World Mission Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
Dear Ministry Partner,

Missions within the church in North America have been changing rapidly and 2020 only increased the rate of change. But what mission will look like and what mission needs to look like are topics of passionate discussion. The Church needs to thoughtfully and prayerfully consider its path.

On Medical Missions Live over the past 10 months, we have been privileged to speak with very well-known authors about their perspective on how missions are changing as we move into the 21st century. This includes Bob Lupton, who wrote Toxic Charity and Charity Detox, and Peter Greer, whose best-selling books include Mission Drift and Rooting for Rivals.

On Tuesday, January 19th, we have a valuable opportunity to talk with another international leader with over 30 years of direct involvement in various aspects of Christian mission. He is also the author of a new, soon-to-be-released book entitled Three Stones Make Home – Transforming Congregational Mission.
Meet our guest:

Rev. Dr. B. Hunter Farrell is Director of the World Mission Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has a doctorate in anthropology and more than two decades of overseas field service. His very significant experience includes his role as Director of World Mission for the Presbyterian Church (USA). During his tenure, he managed a 180-member staff in 52 countries while overseeing strategic direction and partnerships, funds development, operations, and communications. As a Presbyterian mission co-worker, Farrell organized and accompanied an international network of churches, non-profit organizations, and universities that linked social capital in Peru and the U.S. to address poverty and justice issues. While working with World Mission in East and West Africa, Farrell supervised the mission workers in programs of health, development, evangelism, education, and theological education.
