For lower-resourced countries like Malawi, there is no existing infrastructure to handle a huge wave of chronic health care issues such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, trauma, orthopedics, etc. As the population begins to live longer and become more urban, there is a skyrocketing need for advanced surgery, trauma care and medical care. It truly is the critical need for critical care.   Tuesday, January 5th, we are honored to talk with two highly regarded international medical leaders. Meet our guests: Dr. Beth Stuebing Adams is Board Certified in both General Surgery as well as Surgical Critical Care. She is also an Advanced Trauma Life Support course instructor. She completed her General Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital and Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She then completed a Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami. From 2013 until 2016, she was Trauma Medical Director at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA.   Importantly, Dr. Stuebing, along with her husband and three young children, will be relocating to Lilongwe, Malawi, in Africa this coming July to become part of the new Surgical Residency teaching faculty at Nkhoma Hospital. Dr. Stuebing will also be leading a countrywide initiative to upgrade critical care medicine in all hospitals.   Greg Seager RN is the Founder and Director of Christian Health Service Corps.
