“All who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Timothy 3:12) Ten years ago, the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) swept into Mosul, Iraq, and immediately began marking Christians’ homes and churches with the Arabic letter “n,” or ن. The symbol (“n” for “Nazarene”) served as a threat to all believers in the area. Christians whose homes were marked had a decision to make: convert to Islam, flee or be killed. More than 100,000 Christians were forced to flee, and most escaped with only the clothes they wore. Separated from their loved ones and running for their lives, these bold Christians refused to deny Christ. They willingly gave up everything for the Savior who had given his life for them. Join Christians and churches around the world in honoring the faithfulness of Christians in Iraq and Syria who joyfully and willingly said “I am N!” even when doing so meant the loss of all they owned and put their lives at risk.
