A Reflection from Tom Taylor as We Approach Christmas

Dear friends,

As we approach Christmas and the close of the year, I’ve been reflecting on the spiritual gift of rest. Scripture shows us again and again that rest is not something we earn. It is something God graciously gives. Even Jesus stepped away to quiet places to pray and renew His spirit.

During my recent sabbatical, I was reminded how deeply we need that space to listen, breathe, and see with fresh clarity.

For many of you serving in congregations, true rest may not come until after Christmas. But I hope you will soon find time to pause and renew your strength. I hope your churches will afford you some time away.

Your ministry matters, and so does your well-being.

I’ve recorded a short video sharing more of this reflection. I hope it brings encouragement in this busy season.

Watch the video

May your Advent be gentle, and your Christmas filled with peace.

With gratitude,

Tom Taylor
