Dear Mission Partners,
Functioning as the Director of Global Medical Missions of your ministry is one of our most important objectives. Because of you, vulnerable families are able to get the medical care they need in uncertain times. Together we’ve had many years of working to achieve the greatest impact possible and develop long term sustainability for the ministry of the Church in the developing world.
With virtually all church functions and committees shut down for the next several weeks, we thought that this might be a great opportunity to create a series of online mission committee meetings. This will give some members of your missions committee a chance to catch up on various topics from the safety of their own home in a short, easy to watch, format.
For the next few weeks, every Tuesday evening starting March 24th at 8:00 EDT/ 7:00 CDT/ 5:00 PDT, we will have a 20 - 30 minute live medical missions update on a number of areas of critical concern. We will have a link to the meetings posted on our website at www.medicalmission.org or www.mbf.net and we will also email the link to you as well.
Our goal is to answer key questions such what are the best practices for mission trips and primary care clinics as well as current updates from various impacted countries. We will review the topic, have time for questions and answers and close in prayer.
With MBF unable to come to you, why not assign a member of your missions committee to drop in and catch up on what is going on around the world. The tentative schedule is as follows:
Mission Committee Night Live Calendar
March 24 How Will Medical Mission Change in the 21st Century and Who is MBF? Interview with Andy Mayo, CEO, MBF
March 31 What are the Top 10 Best Practices for Medical Missions Trips? Interview with Greg Seager RN, Founder Christian Health Service Corp., author of When Healthcare Hurts
April 7 Survey Results of Medical Clinics in Haiti and What is the Current Status of the New Haiti Health Network? Interview with Barbara Campbell, Executive Director, The Dalton Foundation
April 14 What are the Dramatic Outcomes of a Unique New Model for Primary Care Clinics? Interview with Dave Evans, CEO, LifeNet International
April 21 How are African Hospitals Meeting the Current Crisis Needs in Their Countries? Latest updates from hospitals and nursing schools in Malawi, DR Congo, Kenya and Cameroon
Future topics to be scheduled: nursing schools and practice, surgery and surgical residency programs, engineering and architecture essentials, used equipment programs, integrating faith into medical practice
We look forward to joining you live online for our very first meeting on March 24th. This will be a new format for all of us but who knows, it could be the start of a new 21st Century approach to missions.
In Christ’s Name
E. Andrew Mayo
President and CEO
